Cape Town – Rory McIlroy has not abandoned the hope of victory in the fourth race to the Dubai title, as it focuses on two victories in the Rolex series, which ends its season in 2018.

This week, Northern Iraq is concerned Nedbank Golf Challenge on the eighth place in the Race to Dubai ranking, just under 2 million points behind leader Francesco Molinari.

"I'm excited to be back, I have a few days to look at the golf course, adjust to altitude and see how far the ball goes." Excited to come back and look forward to next week in Dubai, "said McIlroy.

This means that even a back-to-back victory would leave McIlroy if Molinari had finished second or alone with another at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, which was held next week.

"My thing is to come here to see Frankie (Francesco Molinari) on Thursday with my final group, it would be a good start. I can not look too far but I can do what I need to do this week, overcoming a couple of boys and getting to the last pair on Thursday, it's a huge step to try, "said McIlroy.

In addition, McIlroy has lost the last two weeks of the season and is looking for a great week at the Gary Player Country Club.

The 29-year-old rider is still winning a tournament in Europe, but he has five top five times in eleven appearances, including second places at the Dubai Desert Classic, the PGA European Championship and the Open Championship.

"Over the next two weeks, I will need great golf, but we will see what happens this week. I feel that my game is in perfect condition, I have not played great in China but a week, and that's just something that reflects things. that I can get to a good start this week, "said World No. 6.

"I played good golf, I played consistent golf, I played in six final bands this year and I did not win in any of the last two bands together, so it's better."

McIlroy approached the SA Open last season and is pleased to have returned to the African ground.

Sergio Garcia, the double winner of this prestigious tournament in 2001 and 2003 before becoming an officially approved European tour, joins McIlroy on a starfield.

Garcia is the most successful Ryder Cup player around the world when he gained his 25th and a half point in the astonishing victory of the Ryder Cup team in 2018 and his latest performance at the Gary Player Country Club five years ago.

"It's always nice to be here in Africa, I always had a great opportunity, I always felt very, very beloved, so it's good to be in Sun City," said Garcia.

"It's very strange, every time you can be a tournament in the past, it's an honor and it's so strange to be here twice on the Nedbank Golf Challenge, it's probably something I'm very proud of."

The 38-year-old became the champion of the championship, after his significant victory in 2017 Masters, and is ready for the first time ever since his third Valderrama Masters title last month.

"Trust is good, no doubt it was good last month of the year, and we hope we have three tournaments and we can have three good weeks to finish high and get ready for next year," Garcia said.
