They find a new star surrounded by "extraterrestrial mega-structures"

The international group of scientists has found a new star whose luminosity is changing mysteriously, suggesting it is full of "extraterrestrial structures". The development of the discovery of the star discovered by VVV-WIT-07 was published on the arXiv.org portal.

Astronomers were warned against a heavenly object while examining data from the Variable VISTA program, which examines the Milky Way's central area, looking for supernovae and stars that suddenly light up when they explode. Scientists have VVV-WIT-07 observations from 2010 to 2018.

In those years, the brightness of the star increased and diminished without an established pattern, until at some point it reached 80%.

"We do not know what the subject is," said astronomer Roberto Saito of the Federal University of Santa Catarina in Florianpolis, Brazil. "That's interesting," he added.

The scientists they collaborate with claim that VVV-WIT-07 can have some kind of rotating debris that regularly blocks light. But Saito and his colleagues say they need more observations to see if it is the true cause of fluctuations.

The behavior of the object resembles the behavior of another flashing star, known as Tabby (KIC 8462852), which also showed significant changes in attenuation of up to 22%. Among the theories about this strange pattern of dimming, there appeared the one that suggests the existence of an extraterrestrial mega-structure that revolves around the star.

The investigation in 2018, however, showed that the change in luminescence in KIC 8462852 is due to dust particles that block some wavelengths of light and not block the giant object.

There is also another flashing star J1407, whose behavior is even more consistent with the VVV-WIT-07 behavior. This star is regularly attacked up to 95%, the astronomer Eric Mamajek from the University of Rochester in New York will appear in 2012. Astronomers think that J1407 is subject to a planet in its orbit with a huge ring system that periodically conceals the star.
