One person is dead after falling from the fifth floor of the library on Vancouver Island on Monday afternoon.
B.C. Coroners Service is investigating and not suspicious.
After noon, Nanaimo RCMP was called to visit medical emergency at Nanaimo University after someone had fallen from the top floor of the library.
The library was closed on Monday and classes were canceled.
Al Cumbers, Associate Vice President of Equipment and Assistance Services for the VIU, said that students who saw what had happened were being interviewed by the police.
Cumbers said for private reasoning that he could not give details about the age of a person or whether he was a student. The university did not disclose information about what led to the incident.
Students and employees were informed where to get counseling support, Cumbers said. Students can get advice by going to Student Affairs in the 200 building and staff can connect with Homewood Health.
