The man died after being hit by a car last night.

The collision happened at Kilclooney, Ballinasloe, Co Galway last night around 7pm.

The male pawn (50 years) was mortally wounded when the car hit him.

He was pronounced dead on the scene and his body was removed at the Galway University Hospital.

The car driver was unharmed during a collision.

This stretch of road, known locally as "Bog Bog to Ahascragh," is closed because Garda Forensic Collision Investigators is exploring the scene, local branches are in place.

Gardai urges witnesses to contact Ballinasloe Garda station on 090 9631890, on the Garda 1800 666 111 intimate telephone line or at any railway station in Garda.
