Only a 12-year-old girl may save the planet. She invented a way to remove the microplast from the oceans and seas

Anna Du only attends the 7th grade at Massachusetts Primary School and can now enjoy great success. She managed to build a robot that can identify the microplast on the sea bed. They pose a problem not only for marine animals but for the whole ecosystem. Scientists raise their warning finger and say that by 2050, more fish will be swam in the seas than fish, which is really alarming.

And that's one of the reasons why Anna decided not to just look at it all. She noticed that it is extremely difficult to remove especially microplastics, which are located at the bottom of the oceans. So she created a robot that is tailored to this task. The robot is reminiscent of a small carriage made of PVC tubes and fishing weights that move around the bottom and can identify microplasms with infrared radiation.

How is it possible for a 12-year-old girl to do something like that? She gained all the knowledge she needed in her local library and watched hours of videos on YouTube. But science has been interested in her since her early childhood, and her parents have been involved in various events when Anna was only five years old.

Many experts surrendered the cunt, including Casey Machala of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. For The Smithsonian, she said that even though it seems simple, Anna deserves praise. She designed a functional prototype to help solve the grave problem of humanity.

Casey Machala focuses on collecting and evaluating data from polar regions and is delighted that one of the robots involved in her work inspired Anna to create her own prototype. Her robot even took part in the Broadcom Masters competition, and Anna put her idea in the top 30 contestants.

The competition was attended by many skilled people and the ideas were rated by the best engineers and scientists in the field. Although Anna did not win the first prize, she does not hang her head and hopes she will once become an engineer to help build things that will make the world a little bit better.
