Under the baton of Martin Leginus, on November 7, Ljubica Vargic will perform as Guild, Ludovic Ludha as Duke and others.
Bratislava, November 5 (TASR) – Opera SND will welcome on Wednesday, November 7, the home scene of the successful English baritone Simona Keenlyside as Rigoletto in the opera of the same name by Giuseppe Verdi. TASR informed Izabela Pažítková, the deputy secretary of the SND.
Simon Keenlyside, a native of London, won a number of prestigious awards for his outstanding performances, including the Olivier Award (2006), ECHO Klassik (2007), and the 2011 Year Award for Best Year Vocalist.
Rigoletto and Don Giovanni belong to the preferred characters of Simon Keenlyside. The latest artists' engagement includes the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the State Opera in Vienna, and La Scala in Milan. In addition to the aforementioned scenes, he is a frequent guest at the State Opera Hamburg, Covent Garden in London, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and other world stages. Simon Keenlyside is also present on important concert stages, collaborating with many renowned orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestras and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of renowned conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Edward Gardner, Christian Thielemann, Riccardo Chailly or Richard Hickox. For the first time, Simon Keenlyside will perform in Slovakia, at the Opera of the SND in the production of Verdi's Rigoletto directed by the leading German creator Martin Schuler, performing the main character of this opera drama.
The composition of Rigoletto's opera inspired Giuseppe Verdi's drama Victor Hugo. The characters of the main protagonists portrayed so prominently that he had censored before the work, and condemned the subject for an immoral immoral. Verdi, together with the librettist, but without compromise, went through censorship through reason and, instead of the ruined king, assigned the role to the Duke. Rigoletto is a court jester who helps his Duke of Mantua in love adventures, not knowing that his daughter Gilda will be the victim of Duke's desire.
Under the baton of Martin Leginus on November 7 will be played by Ľubica Vargicová (Gilda), Ľudovít Ludha (Duke), Peter Mikuláš (Sparafucile), Denisa Hamarová (Maddalena), Jitka Sapara-Fischerová (Giovanna), Sergei Tolstov (Monterone) other artists.
