Six children and 14-year-olds are in a “critical” condition at the hospital after a horrific car on M8.
The crash, which included a brown Ford Focus and a black Volkswagen Golf, happened at 9.50am on Junction 4, near Whiteburn, West Lothian.
Focus detectives – a man, a woman and children – were taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and Royal Ern and the Royal Hospital for Youth with serious injuries.
Police Scotland said the remains are in “critical” condition.
The female driver of the golf course was taken to University Hospital Viva with “serious” injuries.
The M8 closed completely at Westbound Junction 4 but was opened at 2.35pm.
Many ambulances and many trauma teams were on the scene.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that they have set up four pumps and one rescue unit.
Sergeant Jennifer Forbes said: “We’re asking anyone who has witnessed the collision or any potential dash cam footage of the cars, please come on over.
