A teenager has been charged with the murder of the death of a man in Newcastle.
On Wednesday, December 14, at 14.00, police received a report that a man had been assaulted at the door of a shopping center in Old Elder Square.
Emergency services were attended and he was taken to a hospital where he sadly died. It was then named Peter Duncan, 52, from Newcastle.
A 17-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is today charged with murder, armed weapons and theft. He is due to appear in North Tyneside Magistrates' Court on Monday.
Officers have also now recovered a screwdriver, which can be used with a weapon.
A total of eight people have been arrested as part of the investigation.
Two men, aged 15 and over, have been charged with over 17 years of operation. A 14-year-old and a 17-year-old have been investigated.
A further 15-year-old was arrested on Thursday.
