The President of the Hellenic Red Cross was appointed doctor and chair of the EAC Regional Department in Ierapetra, Andreas Mamantopoulos, following the demise of former President Nicolaus Economopoulos.
The meeting of the Central Committee of the Greek Red Cross took place on Monday afternoon, when a subcommittee's proposal was signed by 15 out of 25 members of the KCS organization against ECO President Nikolaos Economopoulos.
Formal filing of the mistrust proposal, Nikolaos Economopoulos, resigned at the CPC meeting as very disturbing. The meeting of the PSC members continued without the participation of Nikolaos Economopoulos, who was represented by a majority (14 in favor of the conviction – 1 to 4 white), while the new president was elected by Andreas Mamantopoulos, who is recognized in the part of the Red Cross in Ierapetra and the hospital in Philadelphia.

Surgeon Andreas Mamantopoulos is a recognized person and offer in Ierapetra and throughout Crete.
He is the chair of the Hellenic Red Cross Branch in Ierapetra, and has been working as a surgeon in a city hospital for many years, and has been fighting the continued downsizing of the state, especially after the Loverdos fusion project.
Because of the immense deficiencies in the hospital, he is not many times even retired today to help with heavy operations and to help his fellow citizens in any way. He is the creator and "soul" of the Social Medicine and Pharmacy of the City, which has been operating for the past year.
In 2010, he was awarded as a rally for his voluntary activity, and a few days ago, the city council issued a unanimous resolution supporting his candidacy for the unfulfilled position of the President of the Red Cross.
